Tomball High School, the sole high school in the Tomball Independent School District before the construction of Tomball Memorial High School in 2011, has seen decades of change and progress. Its story begins in 1908, in a humble one-room building, where a small group of students began their journey of knowledge. Over the years, Tomball High School grew, adapting to the changing needs of the community. In 1935, a new, larger building was constructed on Cherry Street, housing grades one to eleven. The school on Cherry Street thrived, but in 1961, tragedy struck. An electrical fire engulfed the building, forcing the school to close temporarily. Churches and other businesses opened their doors, offering space for the dedicated students to continue their education. By 1974, a new, red-brick high school rose on Sandy Lane, later renamed Quinn Road. The spirit of community and academic excellence continued to flourish within this enduring institution. To this day, Tomball High School remains a beacon of learning and achievement in the heart of Tomball. The pride of Texas, as it’s known, stands as a testament to the transformative power of education, a reminder of the past, and a promise for a bright future.
