Wow. Look at this amazing place. This is the Tollcross Visitor Centre. It’s nestled within Tollcross Park a true hidden gem in Glasgow’s East End.

The Tollcross Visitor Centre isn’t just a building. It’s a portal to history. It sits on land with a rich past. Records show activity here as far back as 1290. Imagine Roger Corbett a local baron living here centuries ago.

The centre itself is part of a larger story. The Courtyard which houses the visitor centre dates back to the 19th century. It was lovingly restored in the late 1990s. The Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic Scotland helped. Think of the skilled hands that painstakingly brought this building back to life.

This wasn’t just any restoration. Old East Lodge buildings were transformed. They became the Visitor and Environment Centre. The Children’s Farm was also refurbished. Traditional cobbles were used to repave the Courtyard. It’s a fascinating blend of old and new.

The Tollcross Visitor Centre is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a place of discovery. You can explore the Children’s Farm. See adorable animals. From sheep and pigs to lovebirds and even alpacas. Even a 3D Cock Robin story awaits visitors.

The park itself is internationally famous. It boasts a unique Rose Garden and impressive Winter Gardens. The Winter Gardens though are temporarily closed. That is due to ongoing health and safety work.

But the Tollcross Visitor Centre’s story doesn’t stop there. The whole park has a fascinating history. In 1897 83 acres of land were purchased. The opening ceremony was performed by the Lord Provost. That was during Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. A grand opening for a grand park.

The original mansion house was designed by the architect David Bryce. It was built in the Jacobean style. It later housed a Children’s Museum. This eventually closed in 1973 due to the building’s decay. The mansion house was then turned into flats and finally into accommodation for the elderly.

The Tollcross Visitor Centre stands as a testament to this rich history. It’s a place where you can learn about the park’s past. It’s also a place to enjoy the park’s present. The centre provides information and interactive exhibits. It’s a place to explore and discover.

So come and explore the Tollcross Visitor Centre. Uncover the secrets of Tollcross Park. Let this special place captivate you with its stories. This is a place you will not soon forget.
