A cricket ground steeped in history awaits you at Titwood. It stands in Glasgow’s Pollokshields area. This is the home of Clydesdale Cricket Club. It is one of Scotland’s four international grounds approved by the ICC.

Titwood’s story began long ago. Clydesdale moved here in 1876. They had played at Kinning Park since 1848. The club rented the Titwood grounds. They rented from the Pollok Estate just like their former home.

Originally the pitch sat next to Darnley Road. Now Hutchesons’ Grammar School occupies that land. In 1904 the pitch moved west. A new pavilion was constructed. Clydesdale bought Titwood from the Pollok Estate in 1987 for £29000.

Titwood gained ICC approval in May 2007. It could host One-Day International matches then. It was Scotland’s fourth ground with ODI status. It joined the Grange, Mannofield, and New Cambusdoon.

The first ODI was to be India versus Pakistan in July 2007. Wet weather spoiled the game. The second ODI occurred in August 2007. Scotland played India then.

Titwood hosted Scotland’s last three Clydesdale Bank 40 home group games in January 2014.

Titwood has hosted four first-class matches. The first was against the Marylebone Cricket Club in July 1963. The annual fixture against Ireland happened at Titwood in 1984 and 1986. Rain canceled an ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Kenya in 2008.

But Titwood isn’t just about cricket.

Clydesdale Hockey Club moved to Titwood in 1959. Glasgow Western Ladies Hockey Club joined them in 1983. An all-weather pitch arrived in 1997. It served as a practice facility for the 2014 Commonwealth Games hockey teams.

Clydesdale F.C. also called Titwood home. They moved here with the cricket club in 1876. Queen’s Park played here from 1883 to 1884. They won 6–1 against Aston Villa in the 1883–84 FA Cup during that time.

Clydesdale RFC played rugby at Titwood. They started in 1889.

Today Titwood is considered one of Scotland’s best grounds. It has hosted many international matches. The playing area is large. It has over 16 pitches for use each season.

The facilities include two all-weather nets. There is a water-based hockey pitch. It is ideal for junior practice. Indoor facilities are available at Hutchesons’ Grammar School. The club owns a Bola bowling machine.

The junior section has its own pavilion. Senior members enjoy changing rooms with views of the pitch. Inside the pavilion is a bar and a kitchen. A 42” HD television and sound system offer entertainment.

Clydesdale partners with Hutchesons’ Grammar School. They use the school’s Auldhouse Playing Fields. An Astroturf wicket is in place at Auldhouse.

Titwood provides everything needed. It is a top-quality sporting venue. It also offers excellent function rooms. It ensures an enjoyable and comfortable time for all. Titwood stands as a testament to sporting history and community spirit in Glasgow.
