Built in 1924 the station was a result of realigning railway lines. This was due to the construction of New Delhi the imperial capital. The station has witnessed massive changes. The redevelopment includes improving the station’s infrastructure. This includes the façade waiting room and parking facilities. New amenities will be added for passengers. The project is expected to cost approximately Rs 26.1 crore.
