Ti-Ratana Bangsar stands as a beacon of community service. It is in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Founded by Ven Datuk K. Sri Dhammaratana, it opened its doors in the late 1990s. Its mission is simple to serve.
Ven Datuk K. Sri Dhammaratana Nayaka Maha Thera initiated the Ti-Ratana Welfare Society in 1994. The society was registered the same year. It opened in 1997. This led to the Ti-Ratana Buddhist Society in 2000.
The society’s headquarters moved several times. It was in Bangsar in 2002. Then it moved to Ampang in 2006. In 2018, it returned to Bangsar. It has remained there ever since. Ti-Ratana then opened branches in other locations. These included Kepong, Klang, Petaling Jaya, Cheras and Puchong.
In 2018, Ti-Ratana Buddhist Society branched out. It became Ti-Ratana Buddhist Society Kuala Lumpur & Selangor. The former name was reserved for future temples in other states. Ti-Ratana Bangsar is now the headquarters of operations.
Ti-Ratana Bangsar is strategically located. It is within walking distance of the Bangsar LRT Station. It’s a short drive from Buddhist Maha Vihara. Ample parking is also available.
Ti-Ratana Bangsar serves the community as a non-profit. It is a volunteer-driven center. It collaborates with other NGOs. Through these activities, it promotes the Dhamma. Dhamma means the teachings of Buddha.
Ti-Ratana Bangsar welcomes everyone. While religious activities are for non-Muslims, non-religious events like yoga are open to all. Volunteers do not have to be Buddhist. However, religious rites require Buddhist volunteers.
Ti-Ratana Bangsar hosts various community events. These include Dhamma talks. They also host community classes. These are subject to terms and conditions.
The building is owned by the Ti-Ratana Welfare Society. It aids in disaster relief. It also supports children from broken homes. This support extends regardless of religion. The Ti-Ratana Group operates as one entity.
Ti-Ratana Bangsar is a community center. Children, youths, adults and seniors gather here. They participate in educational programs and youth activities. They also engage in welfare activities and community services. The vision is clear: “Service for a Healthy Society”.
Ti-Ratana Bangsar operates from Monday to Friday. Its hours are 9am to 5pm. It is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Free parking bays are available.
