The Table’s history stretches back to 1953. It began humbly in the living room of Curtis and Elsie Clare. These young church planters saw a need. They wanted to create a home for newcomers to La Mesa. They founded Lake Murray Congregational Church. This church later joined forces with Northmont Evangelical and Reformed Church in 1965. Together they formed what we now know as The Table.
The name The Table is significant. It reflects a welcoming spirit. It evokes images of fellowship and shared meals just like Jesus shared with his friends. It’s a symbol of inclusion. Rev Kelly Ryan the current pastor emphasizes this. She sees The Table as a place where everyone feels welcome. This inclusive spirit is reflected in the church’s active involvement in the community.
