Here, at The Road Church, faith meets the road of life. This church began with a vision. Minister Welch received this vision on November 26, 1992. The vision was to reach people often left out.
The Lord inspired Minister Welch. He was to start with the men in the family. Then, he would reach out to the young men in the neighborhood. It was to be a ministry for men. God revealed the cries of men and women. They were bound by Satan.
The first meeting happened on January 26, 1993. It took place at Minister Welch’s Detroit home. Seventeen men attended. The ministry was named “The R.O.A.D. Ministry”. It stands for Reach Out And Deliver. Meetings were held every Saturday. The men invited friends and relatives.
Soon, women wanted to join. Minister Welch prayed about it. On March 27, 1993, seven women joined the ministry. Later that year, a children’s ministry started. By May, the men’s ministry had 28 members.
The ministry thrived until the summer of 1994. It outgrew the basement meeting space. But the Holy Spirit didn’t leave Minister Welch. On January 28, 1996, he left Christian Tabernacle. He became Pastor Welch of Christian R.O.A.D. Ministries. That was the start of The Road Church.
Now, The Road Church is led by Pastor Day and Pastor Michelle. They have over 50 years of combined ministry experience. Pastor Day hails from Pontiac, Michigan. He was ordained in 1997.
