In 2009 Sociedade de Turismo e Diversões de Macau a company also associated with Stanley Ho fully acquired it.
A significant renaming occurred on August 1 2009. It became the Grand Lapa Macau. This was a year before the new Mandarin Oriental Macau opened in One Central. Even after the name change the Mandarin Oriental managed the Grand Lapa until January 2014. A fascinating detail is that the Grand Lapa continued operations under Mandarin Oriental management even after the name change. This shows the strength of their business relationship.
