The Plaza at Harmon Meadow spans 175 acres. It boasts over 3.5 million square feet of space. This includes hotels, offices, retail spaces and restaurants. In 2015, Howard Michaels’s Carlton Group purchased it. But its story began much earlier. The Plaza at Harmon Meadow was built in 1981.
The Plaza at Harmon Meadow offers 400,000 square feet of shopping space. This includes the Meadowlands Convention Center with its 61,000-square-foot exhibition space. You can catch a movie at the 14-screen Showplace Theatres. It opened in October 2009. Other shopping options include a Walmart, Sam’s Club, and a Best Buy.
Need a place to stay? The Plaza at Harmon Meadow has several hotels. There are over 1,200 rooms. You can find familiar names like Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, and Holiday Inn. Courtyard by Marriott, Hyatt Plaza, La Quinta Inn & Suites, and Extended Stay America are also here.
Getting here is easy. The Plaza at Harmon Meadow is bound by Route 3 and Paterson Plank Road. Several bus lines serve the Plaza. These include the 78 from Newark and the 85 from Jersey City and Union City. The 190 and 320 interstate bus lines also stop here. They travel to and from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan.
The Plaza at Harmon Meadow has hosted some unique events. In 2012, it was home to BronyCon. This is a fan convention for the TV show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. In 2015, the Meadowlands Exposition Center hosted the East Coast Comicon. It moved here from Asbury Park.
Food lovers rejoice. The Plaza at Harmon Meadow is now home to six new restaurants. Shake Shack and Dave’s Hot Chicken are among the new additions. These restaurants offer a variety of cuisines. There is Nashville-style hot chicken plus Mediterranean and Korean BBQ.
Shake Shack occupies a 3,200-square-foot space. Dave’s Hot Chicken has a 2,205-square-foot storefront. Cava brings its Mediterranean fare to a 3,000-square-foot space. KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot offers an all-you-can-eat experience in an 8,870-square-foot restaurant. Bubble tea lovers can visit TSAoCAA. Haute Dolce Crepes offers sweet and savory crepes in a 963-square-foot space.
A BBQ restaurant is also set to open. It will be located in the old Carrabba’s location. A grocery store is coming to the former mixed martial arts studio on First Street.
