High above the bustling streets of Midtown West The Orion stands tall. A 60-story glass giant it’s one of New York City’s loftiest residential buildings. Completed almost a decade ago The Orion quickly became a coveted address. Its name a nod to the constellation it boasts a striking blue and green glass curtain wall. This wasn’t just any construction. The team chose a Sotawall Hybrid-Wall System. This unique system allowed for greater installation flexibility. It minimized the distance from the building slabs.
The Orion’s elegant sculptural tower holds 550 apartments. Most offer dramatic 360-degree views. Imagine the Hudson River shimmering below. Central Park a green oasis. Even New Jersey and the rest of Manhattan spread out like a map. The building’s amenities are just as impressive. Spread over the 29th and 30th floors they include an 8500 square-foot fitness center. There are also indoor swimming pools screening rooms and even a breakfast cafe.
The lobby itself is a sight to behold. Eighteen-foot ceilings soar above. Sophisticated rosewood and metal paneling adorn the walls. A 50-foot long angled wall of Pompeiian stone adds a touch of grandeur. But The Orion’s luxury extends beyond its design. It offers a full-time doorman an on-site garage and concierge services. Its three-story amenity suite is the envy of many. No wonder it was once voted one of NYC’s top amenity and service buildings. The Orion’s pre-sales were a frenzy. Buyers and renters alike were eager to call this building home.
Sadly the building has seen tragedy. Cheslie Kryst a former Miss USA who lived there took her own life. This serves as a stark reminder that even behind the glamour of luxury life’s struggles can remain hidden. Yet The Orion remains a symbol of modern residential living. Its striking design and luxurious amenities continue to captivate. It stands as a testament to architectural brilliance and the enduring allure of the New York City skyline.
