Established in 1981, The Open University of Zhuhai has a fascinating history. It’s intertwined with the University of Macau. Originally, The Open University of Zhuhai didn’t exist as a separate entity. The University of Macau, initially the private University of East Asia, underwent a transformation. The Macau Foundation acquired it in 1988. This acquisition led to the creation of the public University of Macau in 1991. The former graduate school and open college of the University of East Asia, not included in the government purchase, merged. This merger birthed the East Asia Open College. It later became the Asia International Open University (Macau) and finally, The Open University of Zhuhai we know today. The Open University of Zhuhai maintains a vibrant campus. It offers diverse programs. These include doctorate, master’s, and bachelor’s degrees, as well as pre-college courses. This institution has significantly contributed to Macau’s educational landscape. It provides accessible higher education opportunities for a wide range of students.
