Picture this. You stand before The Manor a sprawling French chateau-style mansion. It’s bigger than the White House. It’s even bigger than the Taj Mahal.

This isn’t just a house. This is The Manor in Holmby Hills. This is history. This is legend. It was built by Aaron Spelling the television producer. He created shows like Charlie’s Angels and Beverly Hills 90210. He built The Manor as his private residence. He finished it in 1988 for $12 million.

The Manor has 123 rooms. That includes 14 bedrooms and 27 bathrooms. It sits on 4.68 acres of land. It’s filled with luxury. There’s a screening room. There are rooms for Candy Spelling’s doll collection. There are even gift-wrapping and flower-cutting rooms. Can you imagine?

The construction wasn’t without its challenges. Initially there was a planned petting zoo for Tori Spelling Aaron and Candy’s daughter. But by the time the house was nearly done Tori was 17. The petting zoo was no longer needed. The grand staircase is a single piece of metal. It was made in Texas. It was inspired by Twelve Oaks in Gone With the Wind.

After Aaron Spelling’s death Candy Spelling put the estate up for sale. She called it the greatest entertainment house ever. She described a kitchen where you could cook for two or 800. Petra Ecclestone bought it in 2011. She paid $85 million. She later renovated the house spending another $20 million. She even removed the original chandeliers.

The Manor has been sold several times. Each sale set new records. In 2019 it sold for $119.7 million. That was a new record in California history. It has since been listed for even more.

The Manor is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a symbol of Hollywood extravagance. It’s a testament to the dreams and ambitions of those who lived within its walls. It’s a story waiting to be told. A story you’re experiencing right here right now.
