In December 1990 a divine call led Pastor Beard from Shreveport Louisiana to Nashville Tennessee. He started a home-based Bible study group. The Living Word Community Church was born. This wasn’t just any Bible study. It was fueled by the aroma of Cajun dishes. It quickly grew attracting people seeking a closer relationship with scripture. The Living Word Community Church needed more space. A partnership with a local church emerged. The Living Word Community Church officially launched in November 1994 under Bishop Ralph Houston’s guidance. Three dedicated members formed the foundation.
The Living Word Community Church’s early days were humble. Its spiritual dedication sparked incredible growth. The congregation expanded from a small church to a high school. Then a 10000-square-foot sanctuary followed. In just four years membership soared from 80 to 600. The church thrived offering worship community outreach and family and youth ministries. This impressive growth propelled the Living Word Community Church to a larger location at 409 Franklin Road in Brentwood Tennessee. This modern facility housed 47 classrooms advanced technology and a gym. On Monday nights the gym helped the homeless. Nearly 1400 members found a spiritual home there.
The Living Word Community Church recognized a need in Antioch Tennessee. Many underserved and immigrant communities needed support. The church leadership made a bold move. They relocated to 5380 Hickory Hollow Parkway. Finally they settled at 2304 Hobson Pike Antioch Tennessee. Their mission continues fostering faith nurturing community and serving families.
