Imagine a place where students from 40 countries converge. This is The International School of Bucharest. Founded in 1996, The International School of Bucharest started humbly. It began in a rented building with only 17 students.

The International School of Bucharest quickly grew. It expanded in both size and scope. The curriculum adapted to serve a mobile international community. It considered different educational systems.

In 2001, The International School of Bucharest achieved a milestone. It became the first CIE exam center in Romania. This allowed it to conduct IGCSE examinations. Offering IGCSE and AS/A level programs further shaped its multicultural environment. Teachers and students benefited from this diverse outlook.

Rapid expansion continued despite moving the primary school to a separate campus in 2003. By 2004, enrollment reached around 350 students. This growth spurred The International School of Bucharest to seek new premises. A purpose-built campus opened in 2008. It was located in a green area in eastern Bucharest.

The International School of Bucharest now boasts a state-of-the-art learning environment. On-site sports facilities enhance the educational experience. A conference hall and cafeteria add to the modern amenities.

Since August 2012, The International School of Bucharest has been fully accredited by CIS. This is the Council of International Schools. In September 2017, The International School of Bucharest became an IB World School. It is authorized to offer the Diploma Programme.
