“A kaleidoscope of colors,” she murmured, her gaze fixed on the wall across the street. The Guardian and the Dreamer Mural, a vibrant explosion of art, dominated the street corner. Unlike the ever-changing face of Dublin’s street art scene, The Guardian and the Dreamer has held its ground since 2018. This captivating mural, the brainchild of artist Maximilian Cope, was commissioned by Dublin Canvas. Dublin Canvas is a city-wide project, breathing life into the mundane grey boxes that house traffic lights, transforming them into an open-air gallery. Cope, known for infusing his art with elements of fantasy and surrealism, outdid himself with this piece. The Guardian, a watchful owl, its wings spread wide against a backdrop of swirling colors, seems to guard the dreamer, a young boy, who sleeps soundly beneath. The mural is a beautiful narrative about the power of dreams, guarded by wisdom, a splash of color and imagination in the heart of Dublin.
