Here stands The Divine Healer’s Church a testament to faith and perseverance. This church began as a healing temple in 1953. Gilbert Ablorh Lawson founded it. It has transformed over the years to become The Divine Healer’s Church.

In 1954 the church was known as “The Lord is there Temple”. The Divine Healer’s Church launched its 50th-anniversary cloth. The anniversary celebration included many activities.

The activities included a Walk with Christ. This walk aided the Korle Bu Cardio Thoracic Centre. An Inter Sectoral Choral Music Festival also featured. The church held hospital visitations and blood donation drives. Clean-up exercises were conducted by members. Gilbert Ablorh Lawson was honored with Memorial Lectures. A Thanksgiving Service marked the climax. The climax was on August 22 at Independence Square.

After Gilbert Ablorh Lawson died in 1989 the church decided to create a constitution. The leadership wanted to govern the church’s operations. A written constitution was adopted in 1999. The constitution provided term limits for officeholders. It also set age limits for some officers.

In February 2023, some members took the Registered Trustees to court. They claimed executive members overstayed their tenure. These members exceeded their age limits. The executive members said the Holy Spirit told them to stay.

Apostle Daniel Mensah Attakpah and others filed the writ. They sought a declaration. They wanted the court to declare the executives’ stay unconstitutional. The plaintiffs requested elections. They wanted qualified members to replace the current executives. An order was sought for audited accounts. The accounts were for the newly elected members. Damages were sought against the defendants. The plaintiffs accused them of abusing their positions.

The plaintiffs stated the church started as a healing ministry. Over time, it developed into an all-purpose church. The Divine Healer’s Church had assemblies in Ghana and abroad.

According to the plaintiffs Apostle Adade exceeded the age limit in 2011. His second term ended in 2016. There was no constitutional provision for a third term. The plaintiffs viewed challenging the prophecies as a lack of faith.

The Divine Healer’s Church stands as a beacon of hope. It is a testament to the enduring power of faith. Remember its history. Consider its impact on the community.
