Hidden within the digital echoes of The Crossings Church, a curious paradox emerges. The Crossings Community Church in Detroit seeks to be a “Christ-Centered Church building Christ-Centered people.” Yet, another Crossings exists, a global network dedicated to connecting faith with daily life. This Crossings, born in the 1970s from the questions of lay Christians in St. Louis, strives to bridge the gap between Sunday worship and everyday experience. The Detroit Crossings emphasizes next steps in faith, offering services, studies, and groups to help individuals connect. The global Crossings, however, delves deeper, exploring the intersection of lived experiences and the promise of Christ. They employ a three-fold method: Grounding in scripture, Tracking daily life, and Crossing the two. Two Crossings, sharing a name, yet traversing different paths. This digital overlap hints at the diverse landscape of faith, where shared names can mask distinct spiritual journeys. The Crossings Church in Detroit focuses on community building within its walls. The broader Crossings Community seeks to connect the sacred and the secular in a worldwide network. Both offer paths to faith, reminders that the spiritual journey can take many forms.
