“Established on October 3rd in 1980” That’s how the story of The Community Church of Christ begins. Reverend Leslie Smith founded it. He led the church until 1993. Then he came back in 1994 but left again that same year.

Between 1994 and 2001 The Community Church of Christ had no pastor. Visiting clergy preached each week. The membership dropped to about seven people. The Community Church of Christ almost disappeared.

Then in 2002 R.A. Cranford became the pastor. The church has grown a lot since then. It has grown in numbers and in spirit. Many new groups have formed. These include a trustee board and a ministerial staff. There is also a Christian education department. The music department is vibrant and substantial. It even features a seventy-five voice mass choir.

The Community Church of Christ focuses on its youth. They started the Young G.U.N.S ministry. It is for young men aged 12 to 21. They also have the Daughters of Zion ministry for young women of the same age. Send Judah First is for boys 12 and under. The Zionettes is for girls 12 and under.

The Community Church of Christ wants to impact the world. They aim to influence their members and the surrounding community. Their vision extends to the entire nation. The Community Church of Christ intends to be an internationally known Bible based church.

They will use biblical teaching and leadership. They will also use industry expertise. The Community Church of Christ plans to establish ministries and educational institutions. They will create business ventures. These will empower church members and the community.

Come expecting a move of God. That’s the motto for every service here. Sunday School is from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Morning Worship Service follows at 10:00 am. On Thursdays there is prayer from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. All services are at 3841 Humphrey St. Detroit.

Pastor Rickey Cranford leads the church. Damien Crutcher is the assistant pastor. The ministerial staff includes many dedicated individuals. Missionary Nicole Banks and Elder Thomas Butler are among them. Minister Rickey Cranford Jr. and Elder Frederick Crutcher also serve. Missionary Victoria Flakes and Elder Robert Franklin contribute too. Missionary Mary Hudson and Elder Johnathan Meade are involved. Elder Erick Moore and Missionary Cheryl Tyler round out the team.
