In 1953, the church was initially founded as the Gold Coast Apostolic Church. After Ghana’s independence in 1957, its name changed to the Ghana Apostolic Church. A conflict arose with the Apostolic Church of Ghana. To resolve this, the then-President of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, decreed a new name. Thus, in August 1962, The Church of Pentecost came into being.
From its base in Ghana, The Church of Pentecost expanded globally. It established relationships with other Pentecostal churches. This growth led to a worldwide presence. By 2022, the church boasted over 4.2 million members worldwide. It operated in 151 nations. These nations were overseen by Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists and Senior Pastors.
