The Church of Pentecost has deep roots in Ghana. Its influence extends far beyond the borders of Accra. It started in 1937 through the work of Rev. James McKeown. He was a British missionary.
Originally named Gold Coast Apostolic Church, it transformed in 1962. This transformation led to the name it carries today, The Church of Pentecost. This change marked a new chapter in its expanding story.
The Teshie-Nungua Area Youth Ministry chose this very temple for an important seminar. It aimed to train 153 youth workers. The event occurred on April 17, 2021. It focused on leadership and spiritual guidance.
During the seminar, Ebenezer Korankye Agyapong gave a speech. He is the Area Youth Pastor. He urged the youth to seek God’s voice directly. He warned against blindly following others. Agyapong used a story from 1 Kings. It illustrated the dangers of ignoring personal instructions from God.
Pastor Kwasi Asante Annor also shared insights. He spoke about excelling as a youth leader. Annor described four types of leaders. These include passive, parasite, prodigal, and productive leaders. He encouraged young leaders to be productive. He highlighted the importance of learning and helping others.
The Church of Pentecost is not just a local church. It is a global movement. It operates in over 151 countries. Apostle Eric Nyamekye currently leads the church as its Chairman. The church has over 4 million members worldwide.
