It carries a legacy that whispers through the ages, a legacy that began in the home of Francis Eppes, grandson of Thomas Jefferson.
Francis Eppes, a devout Episcopalian, moved to Orlando in 1869 when it was just a humble settlement. A man of faith, he opened his home to fellow Episcopalians, holding prayer services that nurtured the community’s spiritual growth. This dedication laid the very foundation stone for The Cathedral Church of Saint Luke. In 1881, the St. Luke’s Mission was formally established, a testament to the enduring legacy of Eppes. It gained parish status in 1884, marking the beginning of its remarkable journey.
Over the years, The Cathedral Church of Saint Luke witnessed the evolution of Orlando, standing tall as a beacon of faith.
