Imagine a towering building adorned with intricate carvings, its golden dome piercing the azure sky. Look closer and you will notice a majestic, ornate tower in the heart of the Thai government grounds. You are looking at the Thai-Khu-Fah building. This is more than just a building and serves as the heart of Thailand’s government, housing the Cabinet of Thailand and the Office of the Prime Minister. You have no chance of finding the Prime Minister here, though. He lives in a nearby mansion, the Phitsanulok Mansion. The Thai-Khu-Fah Building holds a rich history. Originally built in 1925 by King Vajiravudh, this building was named Baan Norasingha, designed to be a royal residence when it was gifted to General Chao Phraya Ram Rakop. It was not until 1941 that the building became the official office of the Prime Minister, where it has remained ever since. With its neo-Venetian Gothic architectural style combined with Byzantine art, the Thai-Khu-Fah Building is a sight to behold.
