Shhh. Listen closely. Do you hear that? A faint whisper on the wind? That’s Terror Mansion calling. Right here before us stands a building steeped in mystery a place where the veil between worlds seems thin.
Terror Mansion isn’t just a haunted house. Built in the 1940s it’s a San Antonio landmark. It’s a place where history and legend intertwine where documented paranormal activity meets thrilling tales. Owner Nancy Alanis believes the hauntings started around a 1927 shooting near the property. Detective Sam Street was shot by robber Pete McKenzie. The spirits Alanis says are treated respectfully. They could be someone’s family member.
For years the building served as apartments. Then it was renovated and used as a haunted house. The previous lessee ran out of funds leaving all the equipment and decorations behind. Alanis never imagined she’d run a haunted house. But she soon discovered the paranormal activity firsthand. She’s captured images of orbs. She’s seen the face of a friend’s deceased father and her own sister. She’s even encountered the ghost of her dog Jenny.
Alanis’ experiences are not isolated. Haunted house actors who worked at Terror Mansion reported unusual occurrences. Alanis herself initially was skeptical. She didn’t believe in ghosts. It wasn’t until she witnessed the activity herself that her skepticism faded. Her dog Jenny’s ghost is a frequent visitor. Alanis often hears the sound of Jenny’s leash and smells her scent. Alanis has also captured pictures of twin faces within orbs.
Terror Mansion isn’t just open for the Halloween season. Alanis offers Afterlife Ghost Tours from March to August. These tours are for groups of ten or more and cost $50 per person. Alanis reserves the right to refuse service. She also strictly prohibits seances or Ouija boards. She believes such practices attract dark entities. Alanis says visitors will almost certainly experience paranormal activity during their visit. She is careful to not say guaranteed in the promotional material though. This location is one place where the paranormal is not only possible but almost a certainty.
Terror Mansion isn’t just a haunted house. It’s an experience. It’s a testament to the enduring power of stories and the mysteries that lie just beyond our perception. As we stand here feel the chill in the air. This is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a place where the past refuses to stay silent. A place where the spirits linger. This is Terror Mansion.
