Gazing up at the gleaming facade of Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport, it’s hard to imagine the antiquated terminals it replaced. Opened in June 2022 by Delta Air Lines, this state-of-the-art marvel is a symbol of transformation. Terminal C is nearly twice the size of the old Terminals C and D combined. This $4 billion structure is part of a larger $8 billion LaGuardia redevelopment project. This is one of the most significant airport renovations in the US in over two decades. Terminal C is a testament to modern architecture and passenger experience. Soaring floor-to-ceiling windows flood the terminal with natural light. They also offer breathtaking views of Flushing Bay and Citi Field. Inside, cutting-edge technology seamlessly blends with inspiring art. Delta partnered with the Queens Museum to commission works from diverse local artists. These pieces add a unique cultural dimension to Terminal C. The terminal boasts 37 flexible gates, accommodating Delta’s entire fleet. Four concourses connect to a central check-in, security, and baggage claim. Dual taxi lanes between concourses minimize taxi times for arriving and departing flights. Concourses E and G are fully operational, with D and F opening in phases. Passengers will find larger gate areas, more seating, and 30% more concession space in the new Terminal C. A highlight is the new Delta Sky Club, Delta’s largest, featuring a Sky Deck with airfield views. The club offers locally inspired food options and artwork by emerging New York artists. Terminal C prioritizes efficiency and passenger convenience. Improved roadways and drop-off/pick-up areas streamline arrivals and departures. A curbside check-in bypass expedites access to security. The terminal’s design also incorporates sustainable technologies for enhanced energy efficiency. The LaGuardia redevelopment project has a strong focus on community engagement. Over $2 billion in contracts went to Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs). This represents the highest MWBE participation in any New York public-private partnership. An additional $850 million was awarded to local Queens-based businesses. Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport is more than just a terminal. It’s a symbol of progress, a celebration of art and culture, and a testament to a commitment to a world-class passenger experience.
