Originally called Baozhuangyan Temple the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees was built in 537 AD. It housed relics of Cambodian Buddhist saints brought to Panyu. Though the original banyans are gone their legacy remains.

The Flower Pagoda is the undeniable heart of the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees. It soars 57 meters high. Nine stories are visible from the outside. Seventeen layers hide within. Its red and white exterior resembles a blooming flower. The pagoda holds Buddhist relics. It offers a stunning view of Guangzhou.
