Five people gathered in a Detroit home. That was the humble beginning of Temple of Faith Baptist Church in 1968. Pastor Rochelle Davis Jr had a vision. He wanted to build a community to glorify God. His motto a spark igniting a flame became the church’s driving force. The first services were held in the Davis home on Wisconsin Avenue. Five people attended that historic meeting: Pastor Rochelle Davis Jr Mrs Mariah Davis Bro and Sis Grover and Sis Orangie Robinson. Temple of Faith wasn’t born from a split but from a divine vision. It aimed to minister to the whole person. The church expanded its reach joining missions and conventions. Initially located in a dilapidated building on Grand River the church later moved to Fenkell and Mendota. Dinetra Sams a youth became the first member after a service where Rev Dale Cross preached.
