Housed in a building shaped like a giant dragon boat, the Teddy Bear Museum opened in 2013, thanks to Hyun Chul Kim. He believed everyone, regardless of age, has a soft spot for bears, and judging by the museum’s popularity, especially among Asian tourists, he was absolutely right. Inside, over 1,000 teddy bears romp through twelve themed zones. Journey from the Inca pyramids, scaled by intrepid teddy explorers, to the prehistoric Dinosaur Zone, where cuddly bears bravely hug a two-meter-tall T-Rex. In the Fossil Zone, their descendants unearth ancient bones. Witness tribal teddy bears preparing for a hunt in the Africa Zone. Marvel at scuba-diving bears in the Under the Sea Zone, complete with giant mer-bears. The Eskimo Zone features polar bears in cozy winter jackets. In Santa Town, teddy bear elves spread Christmas cheer amongst the snowy landscape. The Space Zone sets the stage for Star Wars-inspired Jedi teddies. Let your imagination soar in the fairytale zone, where interactive slides and play areas await. And don’t miss the giant three-meter panda in the China Zone. Each exhibit begs to be touched, hugged, and photographed. Plan to spend at least two hours exploring the Teddy Bear Museum’s 2,500 square meters of cuddly chaos.
