Back in 1973 dance pedagogue Fe Reichelt opened a school in a soon-to-be-demolished industrial building. Die Werkstatt flourished. It even received funding from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. But rising rent forced a move in 1980 to a new location on Bornstrasse.
