Envision two metro lines converging beneath our feet here at Tanwei Station. This is more than just a stop. Tanwei Station is a crucial interchange.

Tanwei Station stands in the Liwan District of Guangzhou. It serves as a vital point on the Guangzhou Metro. Specifically, it connects Line 5 and Line 6.

Originally, planners knew Tanwei Station by different names. These were Datansha South Station and Datansha Station. The station officially opened on December 28, 2009. At that time, it only served Line 5. It wasn’t until December 28, 2013, that Tanwei became an interchange. That’s when Line 6 was added.

Tanwei Station’s location is quite scenic. It sits at Zhongshuangqiao Park on Datansha Island. Consider the blend of urban transit and green space.

Let’s talk about the layout of Tanwei Station. Above ground, Line 5 operates on an elevated structure. Below ground, Line 6 runs. This design cleverly integrates two lines. The station has four platforms. There is one island platform and two side platforms. This setup efficiently handles passenger flow.

Navigating Tanwei Station is straightforward. You will find several exits. Exit B, Exit C, Exit D, Exit F, Exit G, Exit I and Exit J all lead to different points. Some take you to Shuangqiao Lu. Others guide you to Qiaozhong Zhonglu or Qiaozhong Nanlu.

Interestingly, another station on Datansha Island had a name change. Datansha North Station is now known as Hesha Station.

Tanwei Station helps connect Guangzhou. It allows easy movement across the city. Remember its history as you pass through. It started as Datansha South Station. Now, it is Tanwei Station.
