“Tanque de Las Tejas” is a curious sight, standing tall amidst the hustle and bustle of Nueva Córdoba in Argentina. Here, where the past lingers and the present flourishes, a water tower named for the colonial-style “Casa de las Tejas” stands as a testament to a bygone era. The tower, constructed in 2011, echoes the spirit of the “Casa de las Tejas”, which once stood on this very land, its distinctive red-tiled roof a source of its name, “Tejas” meaning “tiles” in Spanish. The old house, a symbol of provincial government, was demolished to give way to this park, a vibrant green oasis in the heart of Cordoba. Today, the park boasts seven sprawling hectares of green space, with walkways, benches, and even a children’s playground. Yet, its most captivating feature remains the tower, a silent sentinel, keeping watch over the city’s relentless energy. From its lofty heights, one can catch a glimpse of the Pabellón Argentina, the university’s majestic main building, a reminder of the city’s academic legacy. It is no coincidence that the park offers free Wi-Fi access, a nod to the students who frequent the area, drawn to its peaceful atmosphere. To reach the park, you can take the Boulevard Chacabuco, a bustling street that connects the city to the university campus and Plaza España, a grand central plaza.
