We all laughed, picturing the scene. “That was William Howard Taft, the 27th President of the United States, and a man of considerable size!” While Taft’s presidency had its share of ups and downs, it’s fascinating to consider how his legacy, however indirectly, touches this very spot here in Taft. You see, this town, established in 1909 right in the heart of Orange County, Florida, was named in honor of the then-sitting president.
