“Is this real life?” I thought, witnessing the sheer size of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport’s Terminal 1. Here we are at T1. This massive structure serves as a gateway to Guangzhou. T1 primarily handles domestic flights.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is huge. It sees over 400 air routes to over 230 cities worldwide. While T1 focuses on domestic travel, T2 handles both domestic and international flights. Remember that distinction as we explore.

T1 opened on August 5, 2004. The terminal spans 52,300 square meters. T1 has a main building and six concourses. There are four floors. The ground floor connects to the subway, the parking lot, and arrival areas A and B. The first floor features a commercial area. The second floor is a transit interlayer. The third floor is the departure hall.

Getting around is easy. A free terminal shuttle bus runs between T1 and T2. During peak hours, it arrives every five minutes. Off-peak, every ten minutes. At night, every fifteen minutes. The metro is also free between terminals.

Inside T1, you will find many services. Free WIFI is available throughout the terminal. There are also left luggage facilities. You can find them at several gates in the departure and arrival halls. Fees vary depending on the storage time and luggage size. Lost and found is near Gate 1 on the third floor.

Need a break? T1 offers hourly lounges on -1F. You can find front desks, guest rooms, reading areas, shower rooms, and baggage deposit areas. Rates vary based on room type and time of day. Free overnight rest areas are also available near Gates 23, 27, 33, and 36 on the first floor.

For postal needs, express services are available. EMS, SF Express, and Air Express all have locations within T1. Currency exchange services are also available. Several banks and currency exchange services operate in T1.

Feeling hungry? T1 offers a variety of restaurants and food options. Most are located on Level 1 in the domestic area. You can find Chinese, Japanese, and Western-style fast food.

Don’t miss the Space-Time Tunnel. This moving walkway connects the terminal to the Airport South Metro station. It features high-tech displays of natural phenomena. Look for the northern lights and distant galaxies. It is a cool sight.

When you’re at T1, you are about 3 km south of Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is accessible via Metro Line 3. Airport buses and taxis also provide service to T1. Metro Line 3 connects the airport with downtown Guangzhou.

Check-in counter opening hours vary. For domestic flights, it is 2 hours to 45 minutes before departure. For international flights, it is 3 hours to 50 minutes.

Guangzhou Baiyun Airport’s T1 is well-equipped. It ensures a smooth travel experience. Whether you are arriving or departing, T1 has you covered. Take a moment to appreciate the scale and services of this transportation hub.
