“Sushi Cat” – that’s what everyone calls this mural. It’s perched over the eastern entrance to The RIM, where the upscale shopping and dining area blends into a residential community. He’s sporting a sushi chef’s hat and a playful smirk. All around him are vibrant images that showcase San Antonio’s diverse culture. You see a luchador, a pair of Tejana boots, a fiery chili pepper, and even a cactus or two. But the real genius is the way the artists have integrated these elements with the sushi theme. The cat’s outfit is adorned with a traditional Japanese pattern, while the chili peppers are shaped like little red chilies. That’s San Antonio for you, a seamless fusion of culture and cuisine.
