Established in May 1957 Sunrise Manor wasn’t always the bustling community it is today. Imagine a much smaller area a mere fraction of its current size. North Las Vegas planned to annex this land. The Clark County Commission however stepped in. They created Sunrise Manor to prevent the annexation. This small act shaped the future of this area.

Sunrise Manor’s story is one of growth and evolution. Initially a rural outpost on the edge of Las Vegas it blossomed. Its population exploded. By 1980 it had absorbed Vegas Creek. This significantly expanded its borders. Today Sunrise Manor is a massive census-designated place. In fact if it were incorporated it would be one of Nevada’s largest cities.

The community’s growth hasn’t been without its challenges. In 2018 a significant debate arose. Some residents pushed for incorporation as a separate city. They believed this would give them more control over local issues like crime and homelessness. Others argued incorporation would be too costly. They preferred remaining part of Clark County. This highlights the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of Sunrise Manor.

Over the years Sunrise Manor has become incredibly diverse. In 2010 nearly half the population identified as White. A significant portion identified as Hispanic or Latino. This rich mix of cultures makes Sunrise Manor a vibrant place to live and visit. From its humble beginnings as a small area to its present-day status as a sprawling community Sunrise Manor continues to thrive. The people’s determination their resilience and their diverse identities have shaped this community. It continues to make it a unique part of the Las Vegas landscape. This is the heart of Sunrise Manor. It is a story of growth community spirit and a desire to shape one’s own future.
