High above the city, have you ever paused to consider the engineering marvel that offers breathtaking views? That’s the SUKE view, accessible via the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway.

The Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway, or SUKE, is more than just a road. It is a 24.4-kilometre, three-laned, dual carriageway. This controlled-access highway stretches across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Its primary goal is reducing traffic on the Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2.

Imagine driving along the SUKE highway. You are high above the usual congestion. The KL city skyline unfolds before you in a stunning panorama. The SUKE view has quickly become a popular spot for those seeking that perfect photo.

However, this popularity has led to some dangerous habits. People stop along the emergency lane to capture the view. This practice is risky. The emergency lane is meant for emergencies only. It is often used by motorcyclists. Stopping there puts everyone at risk.

Prolintas, the SUKE developer, understands the allure of the view. They are planning an elevated rest and service area at Tasik Tambahan. This “SUKE Lookout Point” will provide a safe place to enjoy the scenery. It will feature food and beverage outlets. You will be able to take your time and get that perfect shot without risking your safety.

The SUKE highway has a unique design. Some have compared its layout and corners to Tokyo’s Shuto Expressway. This has attracted some drivers to test their vehicles. Combine this with drivers trying to take photos while moving. This creates a potentially dangerous situation.

Opening in stages from 2021, SUKE has become an integral part of Kuala Lumpur’s infrastructure. The expressway begins in Ulu Klang, Selangor. It runs above Middle Ring Road 2 to Ampang. It diverts southeast through Ampang Town. It then turns southwest through Cheras and Alam Damai. Finally, it turns westwards to meet Middle Ring Road 2 again. It ends at Sungai Besi. Here, the road continues into the Shah Alam Expressway.

SUKE uses an open toll system. Electronic Toll Collections are used at Ampang, Bukit Teratai, and Alam Damai Toll Plazas. Tolls are collected via Touch ‘n Go cards or SmartTAGs.

The SUKE view offers a stunning perspective of Kuala Lumpur. Remember to enjoy it responsibly. Wait for the designated lookout point. Keep the emergency lanes clear and traffic flowing smoothly.
