Suju High School officially opened its doors on November 1, 1994. As of 2010, it was home to 684 students. Originally, Suju High School had high academic standards. Only students with top middle school grades could get in. Since 2015, Suju High School has become standardized. This change came about because of Yongin’s standardized high school policy.
The symbols of Suju High School carry significant meanings. The school tree is the pine. It represents unyielding beliefs, noble principles and loyalty. The school flower is the magnolia. Its color symbolizes a noble and pure mind. The school bird is the crane. It stands for lofty grace. The school emblem is derived from the Hangul name of Suju. Its colors represent the harmony of the sky and land. The emblem also signifies high spirit and modesty.
The history of Suju High School is marked by key milestones. In 1995, ChoongGyo Shin was appointed as the first principal. Freshmen entered on March 4, 1995. There were 10 classes comprising 461 students. The first graduation ceremony was held on February 14, 1997. Twenty-one students graduated.
JongChoon Lee became the second principal in 1998. A food service center was completed in 1999. A multipurpose classroom opened in 2000. In 2003, ShinSup Park was appointed as the third principal. DoSup Shin became the fourth principal in 2004. An elevator for challenged persons was completed in 2005. The library was remodeled in 2007.
Suju High School offers a comprehensive curriculum. In the 10th grade, general subjects include Korean, Ethics, and Mathematics. Also included are Science, English, and more. In the 11th grade, students study Information Society and Computer. They also take advanced subjects like Literature and Physics. The 12th grade includes Citizen Ethics and Ecology and Environment. Students can also choose elective subjects like Spanish and Physics II.
Suju High School has a Student Council. It consists of a chairman, vice-chairman, and scribe. There are department heads for General Affairs and Order Fulfillment. Other departments include Environment, Service, and Health. The Art and Science, Information, and P.E. departments are also represented.
