This blend of rustic charm and modern design is a hallmark of the Indian Creek Lodge, a part of the Student Recreation Center. This unique building achieved a remarkable feat in 2012. It became the first LEED-certified building at Georgia State University. It wasn’t just about aesthetics. The designers incorporated high-efficiency water fixtures and preserved a significant portion of the land as open space. They even purchased renewable energy certificates to offset the building’s electricity use. This commitment to sustainability earned the lodge three out of four globes from Green Globes. This organization recognizes green building and sustainable development. The lodge itself is a hub of activity, hosting meetings, conferences, and retreats. But the Student Recreation Center extends far beyond this eco-friendly haven. The center also boasts the Challenge Program, a state-of-the-art high ropes course. This exhilarating course was updated in 2013 and is designed to push participants’ limits. It helps them build teamwork, trust, and communication. The Student Recreation Center truly embodies Georgia State University’s commitment to holistic student development. It offers a space for both physical and mental growth.
