This isn’t just another building it is a place where students come to thrive. Completed in 2012 the Yawkey Center united several student services under one roof. Before this crucial resources were scattered across the campus. Now everything is centralized making student life a lot easier.
Inside the Yawkey Center you will find a lot of things. The Center for Career Development can be found here. The Center helps students prepare for life after graduation. The Educational Resource Center provides academic support. Peer tutoring language assistance and writing help can be found here.
Let’s go to the fourth floor. Here you will find academic advisors ready to guide you. They help students choose the right courses. If you are pre-law or pre-med pre-professional advisors are available.
Now on the third floor. This is home to the College of Arts and Sciences Writing Center. No matter your major writing skills are essential. The writing program offers many courses each year.
Time to eat. The first and second floors feature Marciano Commons. This is BU’s newest dining hall. There are a dozen stations serving food from around the world.
The Yawkey Center is more than just services and dining. It also has sustainable design measures. The building is LEED Gold certified. High-efficiency lighting low-flow plumbing and a green roof are just a few examples.
The Yawkey Center replaced three outdated dining locations. The new dining hall has 11 food concepts. It is designed to foster a stronger sense of community on the East Campus.
The building itself is quite impressive. The exterior features brick cast stone and zinc panels. Inside you will find terrazzo white oak and maple.
The Yawkey Center also has some unique features. Bay State Underground features late-night comfort foods and ramen bowls. The Fresh Food Company has fresh pasta a gluten-free kitchen and vegan options.
