Getting here is easy. A dedicated tram stop on line 61 drops you right at the entrance of Strandbad Mueggelsee. If you are driving, parking is available on Fuerstenwalder Damm.
In 1910 private investors already realized the pontential of the area. They built temporary buildings. In 1912 the “Freibad Mueggelsee GmbH” was founded and solid buildings followed. Already in the opening year the area welcomed 177.000 visitors.
The place faced economic difficulties and a fire in 1928. Between 1929 and 1930 the area was rebuilt under the supervision of Martin Wagner and Friedrich Hennings. Wagner was involved in the construction of Strandbad Wannsee. The rebuilt facility was much bigger. It used steel-concrete structures.
The beach was renovated in 1951 and between 1976 and 1978. Since then it can host 25.000 guests a day. A stage was added along with new restaurants, a sauna and bowling alleys.
Until 2006, the Strandbad Mueggelsee was managed by Berliner Baederbetriebe. They wanted to close the area due to economic reasons. But the district Treptow-Koepenick took over the management in 2006 to prevent the closing.
Since 2009 the area is provisorily operated by the association “Buerger fuer Rahnsdorf e.V.”. In 2020, the state of Berlin provided 10.5 million euros for the renovation of the Strandbad. The renovation started in July 2021 and should be finished in 2024.

Adjacent to the Strandbad Mueggelsee, you will find a youth village to the west. To the east boat docks are located along with a surf school.
The buildings of the Strandbad Mueggelsee are listed as historical monuments. They were built between 1929 and 1930. The bronze figure Maja by Fritz Klimsch belongs to the area.
The Strandbad Mueggelsee has a 250 meter long sand beach. A 150 meter section is reserved for nude bathing.
