This stone, however, wasn’t lost to the dust of time. It was saved by Miss E.A.S Abell OBE, the General Matron of the hospital. In 1969, when the Tower Block was demolished, she carefully collected this very stone. It’s a testament to her dedication to this hospital, a small piece of history she wanted to preserve.
