Perched here, Stammershalle Badehotel presents more than just a picturesque scene. Since 1911, Stammershalle has offered striking yellow wooden facade against Bornholm’s rugged north coast. It stands just 30 meters from the Baltic Sea.

Originally, a German wholesaler constructed Stammershalle as a summer residence in 1911. By the 1930s, he even flew German guests directly from Berlin to Rønne. Imagine arriving here to enjoy magnificent nature and fresh air, a true escape from the big city. Until 1948, the spelling was Stammershalde.

Behind Stammershalle, the original owner built a small zoo. It housed lions and bears. Today, you can still see remains of the ancient bear caves.

The Wang-Hansen family ran Stammershalle for many years. It became a focal point for local family outings and parties.

In 2021, the Falbe-Cardel and Sørgård families took over. They renovated Stammershalle, respecting its unique aesthetics. The hotel, restaurant, and rooms were furnished and preserved in keeping with the location’s original architecture and surroundings.

Susanne and Ulrich Sørgård ensure that Stammershalle Badehotel weaves its historic charm with a fresh sense of purpose. They honor its legacy of calm and simplicity. They also add enough modern comfort.

The rooms at Stammershalle don’t try too hard. Large mullioned windows frame the Baltic Sea. Interiors feature white walls, pale wooden floors, and handpicked antiques.

Each suite offers something distinct. The Østersø Suite includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a living room opening onto a terrace. The Tower Suite features two floors leading to a private tower room. It offers views across Christiansø and the Baltic horizon. The Stammershalle Suite has a corner terrace.

Dining at Stammershalle Badehotel is an experience. The seasonal à la carte menus revolve around locally sourced ingredients. The wine cellar, carved into Bornholm’s cliffs, holds 3,500 bottles.

Breakfast at Stammershalle focuses on quality. In summer, the buffet includes freshly baked sourdough, homemade jams, and Danish cheeses. In winter, breakfast is served directly at the table.

The terrace overlooks the Baltic Sea. Guests enjoy coffee, wine, or simply take in the horizon.

A bathing jetty sits 150 meters from Stammershalle. It’s a spot for a cold dip in the Baltic. There’s also a paddle tennis court. E-bikes are available for exploring Bornholm’s coastline.

Behind Stammershalle, the Troll Forest holds ancient standing stones and burial mounds. It also has remnants of the past zoo. Ulrich Sørgård leads lantern-lit walks through the Troll Forest. The guided trail includes stories about Stammershalle’s history and Bornholm’s natural wonders.

Stammershalle Badehotel feels alive with history. It remains grounded in the present. The soft light, the flavors of Bornholm, and the sea views create a memorable place. As you leave Stammershalle, you will remember it.
