In 2018 construction began transforming this once largely unused space. But this transformation was not without preparation. Felling and clearing work had already been done in early 2018.
The Stadtteilpark Steinbruchsfeld plan reflects the desires of local residents. Adults, children, and teens all shared their ideas. Their input shaped the park we see today. Imagine their excitement as their suggestions turned into reality.
The park features a mix of inviting lawns and meadows. Fruit and park trees dot the landscape such as apples, pears and walnuts. Smooth asphalt paths wind through the greenery. These paths connect different areas and make the park accessible.
At the heart of the Stadtteilpark Steinbruchsfeld is a central meeting point. Here, you will find seating and a Boule area. This is a perfect spot to gather and socialize. Fitness equipment caters to all ages near the meeting point. Residents chose a Rückenmassagegerät, a Rudertrainer, and more. A Schultertrainer was added to ensure accessibility for wheelchair users.
Look closely at the park’s entrances. You will discover literary quotes etched into the paths. These quotes honor the poets for whom the surrounding streets are named. “O schaurig ist’s übers Moor zu gehen…” by Annette von Droste-Hülshoff.
