It is located directly above a large supermarket. The vhs is next door. Residents come to borrow books and media. They read newspapers. People simply meet in a cozy place.
Let’s step inside the Stadtteilbücherei Candis. In 2019 the library added a Makerspace. Here, people work together on creative projects. Adults and children learn about robots. They discover the world of programming. The Stadtteilbücherei Candis is accessible by elevator.
The Stadtteilbücherei Candis offers a lot. There are 22000 media items for all ages. You can borrow books for children and teens. Novels are available. There are also non-fiction books, guidebooks and learning aids. Magazines, movies, music CDs, and audiobooks are here too. You can even borrow board games and console games.
The Stadtteilbücherei Candis has cozy reading spots. There is also a large outdoor reading terrace. The Makerspace has creative materials. Robots are available to help you start programming. A gaming corner features a Playstation 4. A Nintendo Switch is also available. Even the youngest visitors can enjoy a KUTI for quizzes and retro games at the Stadtteilbücherei Candis.
But that is not all. The Stadtteilbücherei Candis has a special program. It helps children improve their reading skills. Lesehunde or reading dogs assist. They help children enjoy reading. The dogs improve reading skills and reduce anxiety.
The Stadtteilbücherei Candis partners with the University of Regensburg. Prof. Dr. Silke Schworm is a lecturer. She has worked with reading dogs for years. She supports children’s reading skills and learning strategies. Schworm also trains the dog handlers and their dogs. Golden Retrievers and mixed-breed dogs have graduated. Bailey and Romeo listen to children read here at the Stadtteilbücherei Candis.
This program is for elementary school children. Five children can participate per session. Each child gets a 10-minute slot at the Stadtteilbücherei Candis. Children must not be allergic to dogs. They cannot be afraid of large dogs. The program is free.
