Driven by a shared vision, a group gathered at St. Timothy United Methodist Church. It was June 2nd, 2020, the first Tuesday of a month marked by both challenge and compassion. St. Timothy United Methodist Church, nestled at 15888 Archdale Street, at the corner of Puritan in Detroit, became a beacon of hope. The Isaiah Literacy Project and Food Pantry, driven by their mission, chose this sacred space to distribute food baskets to those in need. Every Tuesday, starting at 2:00 PM, cars lined up outside St. Timothy Church United Methodist. They came seeking sustenance, a lifeline in uncertain times. Executive Director Donella Hughes-Bell and a dedicated team of volunteers sprang into action. They tirelessly loaded baskets filled with nourishment into waiting cars. A simple act of kindness, repeated week after week, at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, reminded everyone that even in the face of adversity, community and compassion could prevail. The work at St. Timothy’s demonstrated the power of shared purpose. It became a symbol of hope and resilience in the heart of Detroit.
