A pivotal moment arrived in 2012. The mission acquired a church building at 384 Clinton Street. On November 24th of that year, the building was consecrated as St. Thomas Knanaya Church. Bishop Mar Jacob Angadiath elevated the mission to parish status. Father Jose Tharackal became the first pastor. The first mass was celebrated by Mar Mathew Moolakkatt. This marked a new chapter in the church’s history. St. Thomas Knanaya Church transitioned from a mission to a parish. It became a spiritual anchor for the community.
