A red brick beauty stands before us. This is the St.-Michaeliskirche in Dresden-Bühlau. It’s not as famous as the Frauenkirche but it has its own unique story.

The St.-Michaeliskirche wasn’t always known by this name. Initially it was called the Erlöserkirche. Built in 1898 and 1899 it welcomed its first congregation. The church acquired a magnificent Jehmlich organ in 1904 a testament to its growing importance in the community. In 1949 the church was renamed to St.-Michaeliskirche Dresden-Bühlau.

The St.-Michaeliskirche is more than just a place of worship. It’s the heart of a community. A nearby parish house built in 1901 complemented the church’s presence. A new chapel was added to the neighboring cemetery in 1938. This chapel also boasts a Jehmlich organ a remarkable coincidence. A war memorial stands proudly in front of the church a solemn reminder of sacrifice.

Today the St.-Michaeliskirche continues to serve its community. It offers a warm welcome to its almost 1900 members. It’s a vibrant hub for religious services community events and a center for the spiritual life of Dresden-Bühlau. It’s a beautiful red brick church nestled in a quiet neighborhood.
