In 1996, a seed of education was planted in Dansoman. St. Margaret Mary Senior High/Technical School began as a private institution. The St. Margaret Mary Parish established the school. It officially opened its doors in May 1997. Deputy Minister of Education, Kwabena Kyere, presided over the ceremony. St. Margaret Mary Senior High/Technical School initially operated from the St. Bernadette Soubirous compound. Then in September 1998, the school moved to its current location. The new site housed an uncompleted building. Construction continued as the school settled in. The school transitioned to a public institution in September 2005. This shift happened with the approval of the Accra Metropolitan Archbishop. The Board of Governors also played a key role in this change.
