St Luke’s is planning its next chapter. There are redevelopment plans that include building an Early Learning Centre. The goal is to create new meeting spaces for local groups. This is seen as an important way to engage with the community.
The Early Learning Centre will be run by the Anglican Schools Commission. Its mission is to provide quality education with Christian values. It will have connections to both the parish and a local Anglican school. A new hall will host community activities. The Theatre Society will also have a space to perform plays. Meeting spaces will be available for hire. Community services such as child health specialists will also use them.
St Luke’s values its history within the local community. The original hall is being retained and renovated. This recognizes its cultural importance. The house to the north, currently the Parish Centre, will be refurbished. It will become part of the new Early Learning Centre. A new building will be constructed at the rear of the site. It will house the Early Learning Centre and a new community hall. Noise abatement fencing will be installed. This will minimize the impact on neighboring properties. The Memorial Garden will be relocated to a dedicated area. It will be alongside the west end of the church. A covered deck will be built on the north side of the church. A new green space will be created at the front. It will be available for parish and community activities. Vehicle access will be moved to the south side of the church. This will improve safety at the intersection.
