Originally, St James Parish Church stood as Titwood Parish Church in Pollokshields. It stood there proudly from 1893 to 1895. Henry Edward Clifford designed it in the Neo-Gothic style.

But times changed. In 1941, the Titwood congregation joined with Pollokshields. The Titwood Parish Church became redundant. So, they dismantled the church.

Between 1951 and 1953, Thomson McCrea and Sanders moved St James Parish Church stone by stone. They rebuilt it here in Pollok. The congregation first worshipped in a school hall. Then, they gathered in a wooden hut. Finally, they had their church again. St James Parish Church reopened on September 3 1953.
