St. Francis Xavier’s Church

Wasn’t it erected and blessed in 1925? St Francis Xavier’s Church in Pallavaram stands before you a testament to faith and history. This beautiful church wasn’t always as grand as it looks today. It was built before India’s independence. Rev F H Franco VI oversaw its construction. The initial structure was smaller than you might expect. The intricate interior design though is a marvel. The British designed the inside. The 1990s design on the roof shows clear British influence. The walls are adorned with stunning paintings. A magnificent cross with a Jesus statue stands proudly on the platform. After independence the church saw several upgrades. These include a centenary addition a prayer tower and a new Jesus statue outside. A generator and a school with an auditorium were added too. High-tech speakers a digital song list and security cameras are all modern additions. St Francis Xavier’s Church isn’t just a place of worship. It’s also home to St Sebastian Matriculation and Higher Secondary School. The school even has its own auditorium St Patrick’s Auditorium. St Francis Xavier’s Church is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a living breathing community center. A place where faith history and community converge.
